Holding the Death grip on change
Stranj fruit No longer hanging from
Southern trees.
Now days
The Justice system
Is procured to fill
The need;
Revenge served cold
A little after 1043,
Reasonable doubt
Sacrificed at the alter
Of suppressed civil
Liberty
So where do we find
Civil Rights
Or Habeas Corpus
What of
Innocence
Of vindication or witness
What of coercion
Or assertion;
Another justifiable
Diversion
Truth laid bare
Only to be
Shattered by another judge's gavel...

I been told that my life is scripted.
Perhaps that explains how so many
things have warped and shifted.
I feel I'm gifted but Plenty of my blessings
Been found through all the dirt I've sifted through

That it was God that lifted you
Mama prayed for strength
While I grew behind
A prison of mistakes.
Considering the breaks that have been my lot
I praise the Most High
Knowing that there are sins That I forgot,
Rather not become holier than thou instead
I am fearfully aware
Of the snares and traps
I bare these scraps
Happily acknowledging my blessings;
I heal through perseverance.
I heal
Like a scar just below the epidermal tissue,
I need no bandage!
It is time that will
Forever rid me of my wounds...
